Came here for breakfast around 8 plus on a week day. At that time there were tables available with no queue. Old school Dim Sum place. They have lots of different kinds of dim sum to try. Wish my stomach was bigger. Food quality is pretty good. Don’t really like the mayonnaise with the fried items but the steamed items are what I really liked here. They have an efficient recording system so when you take the items it recorded efficiently. Dining area cleanliness is decent. Toilets are not very dirty but have a bit of smell. Not expensive and very decent quality. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Gim Cheng Dim Sum is a very old place, therefore most people from JB will know this place as one of their dimsum options. Dimsum was decent. My best recommendation is the Salad Prawn with Apple, the combination of the prawn and the apple with the salad sauce was perfectly balanced. Others I find well on the standards of traditional dimsum. However, the biscuits options were not to my liking, particularly because it turned out soft without crunch, otherwise it would be different. The environment is rather hot, but understandable given the setting. Overall would recommend for a decent dimsum place in JB.

Sharing our old-school dim sum spot that locals truly love since 2006. Gim Cheng serves some of the freshest dim sum in JB, so the current 3.9 rating really doesn’t reflect how good the food is. The lo mai gai is a must try – fragrant, tender and nicely perfumed with Chinese wine, while the salted egg lava custard buns are rich, flowy and absolutely not to be missed. Everything comes out hot and tasty, and it is a great place for a satisfying breakfast with family or friends. Best to arrive slightly before 9am on weekends to beat the crowd and still enjoy the full range of dim sum.

Dim sum here is good. They have lots of prawn based dim sum so if you like prawn, this is the place to be. A little on the saltier side, but generally all good.

The eatery was quite crowded when we arrived at about 10am. However we managed to get a seat relatively quickly. You order by holding your table chit and going to different stations. Point out your favourite dishes to the staff manning the station and they will hand you the dish + print out order slips for you to clip them together with your table chit Some of the dim sum were decent and some were just average. The black bean pork ribs were alright, while tender, they weren’t as aromatic as I would have liked them to be. Carrot cake was crispy but would be great to have XO chilli to pair with it. Enjoyed the salad fried prawn dumplings though.

Crowded, worth the queue and I would come again. One of the places on my list to go for quite some time. Drop by if you have the time and willing to make the effort, enjoyed all the dishes I ordered. It's been a long while since I had quality Dimsum in JB.

Currently the best dimsum I have had in JB after DSX has fallen. The first thing I evaluate a good dimsum store is that their skins of Hargao and Xiaolongbao don’t break when taken with chopsticks. Although they don’t sell Xiaolongbao here, the hargao is very nice. The main thing here is the prawn. The prawn dimsum here are very big and chewy. Definitely worth trying once if you haven’t tried before. Bad thing is the order method is a bit complicated. But after you go once, you will know how to order already.

As early as 9am this place was swarming with people. The process : All dim sum are self service,so I just walk up to the kakak & ask for what i want & carry it over to the table on a tray. The dining area : it's the usual hawker stall set up with plastic tables, chairs & stools but the dining area was airy & comfortable. The food : all dim sum,egg tart (personal favourite) & bao we chose were excellent but a lil disappointed that they don't serve coffee but Chinese tea goes well with the dim sum, it's a matter of preference so I guess I'm a minority here. Verdict : seeing the number of people patronising this place & having tried their food & experienced the well organised ticketing system,I can see why many locals & patrons even from our neighbouring state frequent this dim sum joint. Though I tried some high end dim sum shops before, nothing can replace the classic dim sum experience, this is a must try if u happen to be around the block, easy recommendation from me.
